Herbal Medications For Asthma
Herbal Medications For Asthma
Asthma is a respiratory disease of the bronchial tubes or airways. Its symptoms are feeling of tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. Breathlessness is caused by the narrowing of the bronchioles (small air passages in the lungs). An asthma attack can be triggered by an allergen to which a patient is abnormally sensitive. These include airborne pollen, mold, and dust. Attacks can also be triggered by physical exercise, emotional stress, cold air, inhalation of cigarrette smoke, noxious fumes from gasolines and paints. It can also be triggered by viral infection in the respiratory tract.
There is no known permanent cure for asthma. Attacks can be prevented by the use of anti-inflammatory drugs, such as cromolyn sodium and corticosteroids. Drugs that relax and widen the air passages such as albuterol and epinephrine can provide fast relief.
There are other temporary cure for asthma: water treatment, breathing exercises, and some herbal medications. Water treatment includes fomentation on the chest twice a day, and steam inhalation, also done twice a day. Breathing exercises for 10 to 15 minutes 4 times a day, and must be done only when there is no attack.
Sit relax on a chair. Support the back with a pillow. Breathe in through the nose. Purse the lips and pretend you are blowing through a straw. Blow twice as long as you breathe in, and gradually increase the time of blowing. Relax after blowing. Take 3 to 4 normal breaths before starting the pursed breathing again. Do this exercise upon waking up in the morning, and before retiring in the evening.
The following herbal medications can also be used to relieve an asthma attack:
- Roll 2 dried leaves of thorn apple or talumpunay, and use as cigarette stick every 6 hours.
- Roll 2 dried leaves of graveyard tree or kalatsutsi, and use as a cigarette stick one in the morning, and one in the evening.
- Chop and boil one-foot long bark of tamarind tree in 3 glasses of water for 10 minutes. Adults must drink 1 cup every after meal, and at bedtime. Dosage for children is 2 teaspoons every after meal and at bedtime.
- Boil 5 chopped young stems with flowers and leaves of amaranth or kulitis in 5 glasses of water for 10 minutes. Dosage for adults is 1 cup, 4 times a day; and for children, 1/2 cup, 4 times a day. This treatment is good for excessive mucus discharge.

Was Christ Born On December 25?
Was Christ born on December 25? Does the Bible say something about the exact date of Christ’s birth?
Most people celebrate Christmas on December 25. Even non-Christians celebrate it too. But Christmas is not mentioned in the Bible. We cannot read mistletoe and Santa Claus too. Where did these all come from?
Christmas is a pagan holiday that began to be celebrated in the 336 A.D. It was based on the polytheistic religions of ancient Rome and its predecessors. December 25 is the nativity date of Mithras, the Persian God, and Sol Invictus, the unconquered sun god. In the Julian calendar, the twenty-fifth of December was reckoned as the winter solstice, and it was regarded as the nativity of the Sun, because the day begins to lengthen and the power of the sun to increase from that turning-point of the year. The ritual of the nativity have its origin in Syria and Egypt, and eventually a Roman emperor Aurelan decreed that December 25, the winter solstice be celebrated as a feast day and dedicated to the Roman sun god, Sol Invictus.
Jesus Christ wa not born on December 25. In Luke 2: 6-8, it was mentioned that when Mary delivered her firstborn Son, there were shepherds out in the field tending their flocks. These verses prove that Jesus was not born on December 25, because the shepherds could not have withstood the piercing cold of winter which usually falls from December up to February.
Most Bible scholars are more inclined to believe on an earlier date of Christ’s birth. More data from astronomy point to the more probable date of Christ birth on September 11, 3 B.C.
The ancient Israelites usually celebrated the Feast of Tabernacle on the first day of Tishri which may fall on August or September depending on the appearance of the new moon.
Some Bible scholars believed that Christ was born during the Jewish year 3759, which corresponded to the fall of 3 B.C. In 3 B.C., the 1st of Tishri occurred on September 11.This belief is strengthened by a Bible verse in John 1: 14, which says that the Word (Christ) became flesh and tabernacled among us. They believed that the word “tabernacled” signified and indicated the Feast of the Tabernacle. Also, in 1 Corinthians 15:45, it says of a second Adam (Christ) as a life-giving spirit. Most Jewish rabbis believed that the first Adam was born on the 1st of Tishri, and so it is not a coincidence that Christ being the second Adam must also be born on the 1st of Tishri.
And records in astronomy showed a phenomenon that ocurred on September 11, 3 B.C. On that year, the sun entered into the “mid body” of the constellation Virgo for twenty days starting from August 27 to September 15, 3 B.C. The sun and its planets were in special alignment with the constellation Virgo in September 11, 3 B.C.
In Revelation 12:1, it says that “… a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and with a crownlike garland of twelve stars on her head”. And this ‘woman” could be the constellation Virgo, being the only constellation of the Zodiac that represents a woman. And Virgo or the woman was “clothed with the sun” from August 27 to September 15. And on September 11, 3 B.C, the sun and the moon set at 6:18 p.m., and 7:39 p.m. respectively – literally, the moon was under the woman’s feet, and it happened on that day only.
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior was not born on December 25. Christmas day, or December 25 is a feast day dedicated to the Roman sun god, Sol Invictus. The pagan Rome during the era of the empire worshipped the sun as their god, and Emperor Aurelan proclaimed that day for the sole purpose of worshipping their sun god.
The Bible does not say anything about the birth date of Jesus Christ. Evidences from astronomy, supported by Bible verses point to September 11, 3 B.C. as our Lord’s birthday. But nobody can actually say with absolute certainty that it is so. Nobody had recorded the date of Christ’s birth, and if ever somebody did record it, it could had been irretrievably lost in time.
The most important thing is to be thankful to God for giving us his only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ to redeem us from the curse of sin. And he has given us eternal life through Him. Whether He was born on September 11 or any other day, is not so important for our salvation. What is very important is to obey His commandments, and to love Him above all things with all our heart , with all our mind, with all our soul, and with all our strength. And to love our neighbors too, as we love ourselves.

Sleeping Problem And How To Tackle It
Most people have sleeping problem, and they do not know how to tackle it. This is the problem of modern-day man. The sophisticated inventions of modern technology has kept him awake almost 24 hours a day.
Many books have been written on how to combat this sleeping problem. Millions of dollars are spent on sleeping pills, vitamins and minerals to solve this sleeping problem to no avail.
What really causes sleeplessness or insomnia? Is there a way out of it? What must I do to have a good night sleep?
Like most ailments and maladies that plagued humanity today, 90% of the cause of insomnia is found in our mind. When our mind is full of fear, hatred, and other negative thoughts, we will have problems to rob us of restful sleep. So let us be at peace with all men, and enjoy that sweet slumber that only God can give to every righteous man.
Manage your sleep just like how you manage your work. If you are good at material handling and doing your job according to rules and instructions, it won’t be a hard thing to follow simple steps to assure yourself a good rest and sound sleep. First, avoid coffee and other food and drinks that have coffee in it. Coffee is a proven cause of sleeplessness. Avoid drugs too; they affect the nervous system, and destroy the wake-sleep cycle of our body.
Eat your dinner 2 to 3 hours before going to bed. Eat light meal at dinner. Overeating at night will not only taxed your digestive system, and deprive you of sleep, but it can cause nightmares that may cause death.
When you have problem sleeping at night, take some light physical exercises, such as walking and stretching. Deep breathing and meditation are also good in inducing good sleep.
Take a warm bath before going to bed. It opens up our skin pores to breathe out the pollutants and toxins on our skin, and refreshes our whole body to induce a good sound sleep.
Put the lights off when sleeping at night. Darkness stimulates the secretion of melatonin in the brain. This hormone regulates the circadian rhythms of our body such as the wake-sleep cycle. To avail of this health benefit of melatonin, we should go to bed before 10 o’clock in the evening, when the melatonin production is at its peak.
And of course, we should sleep in a quiet place away from the distractions of TV and other noise. It is very important that we sleep in clean, well-ventilated room with clean bedding, pillows and blankets. Foul-smelling bedding, blanket and dirty room are not conducive to sound sleep. Open up the windows, and allow fresh air to enter into the room for a healthful sound sleep

Power of Nature Sounds
In this 21st century era, specifically from early 70s up to the present, the world has read volumes of books regarding Positive Mental Attitude. Most of these inspirational books deal with the power of the mind to heal and to improve itself through stimulation of the senses. One of these is the use of autosuggestion wherein positive encouraging words or mantra are repeated over and over during a deep meditative state.
To enhance the power of autosuggestion, scientists introduced the sounds of Nature such as the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves, the ripples and the bubbling noise of running water in the brooks, and the sound of the waves along the shore. It is now proven that the sounds of Nature resonate with the human body and has a sound frequency that calms, heals, and stimulate the brain and the whole body to function perfectly.
A friend who plays a Fender Stratocaster electric guitar was the one who suggested it to me. He said he uses them for relaxing after a night of heavy metal music gig. I bought some of these audio tapes and experienced it myself. They are indeed soothing and relaxing to the mind. The more I used it, the more my thinking became clearer, and my moods became brighter and my attitude in life became more positive.
Strengthen Your Heart With CoQ10
Strengthen your heart with CoQ10 and live longer!
I started to learn about CoQ10 in the late 1990′s from a man to whom I was trying to sell books about health. He was a strong old man who introduced me to this herbal product which he said is a powerful cure for various diseases including cancer. I was not interested then; all I wanted was to sell health and spiritual books to earn money for my family. Besides, it was so expensive – a medium bottle cost almost two thousand pesos!
I read amazing testimonies of people who were cured of crippling diseases by taking CoQ10. More people get well, and this herbal medicine became popular in more places as a cure of many diseases. I thought it was just a fad and will soon fade away. I was wrong – it is making a comeback and more popular this time.
Recently, somebody sent me a health newsletter about CoQ10. The facts about its health benefits are so amazing to believe. If it were not for the medical doctors who vouched its efficacy and safety, plus the enumerable convincing positive results of various studies done on CoQ10, it would be hard for me to believe.
CoQ10 is an amazing nutrient! It is the energy switch that sparks the more than 100 trillion cells in our body. It is naturally produced by our body in the liver, and its main user is our heart, which uses up to 10 times more compared to the other organs of the body. This production of CoQ10 is normal in children, but as we grow older, at about the age of 30, our body’s production of CoQ10 decreases gradually. Deficiency of CoQ10 in our body can weaken our immune system and makes us more susceptible to many diseases.
CoQ10 has lots of health benefits. It normalizes and restore our blood pressure, help prevent memory loss, and repair damaged cells. It protects the body from free radical oxidation that damages body cells and cause premature aging.
The reduction of CoQ10 natural production in the body is not only caused by old age. Cholesterol-lowering drugs or statins used by weight-loss fads also reduce the body’s production of CoQ10 by as much as 40 percent! People with 25% fall of CoQ10 level in the body can experience illness, and 75% is fatal. Lower levels of CoQ10 in the body can cause premature aging, memory loss, chest pains, irregular heartbeat, and other heart problems.
CoQ10 is indeed an amazing nutrient for the body! It floods the cells with endless energy! It unclogs the arteries of fats and bad cholesterol, improving and boosting blood circulation to all organs in the body to restore healthy body function such as as memory, normal heart beats, and to protect the body from free radical oxidation caused by pollutants and stress that leads to many diseases and premature aging.

Classical Music and Contemporary arts
I love listening to classical music. It started way back in high school, because my mom used to tell me that classical music helps to calm our minds and is great to listen to it, especially when you want to relax or when studying. I also imparted that advise to my kids, so they have classical music in their ipod touch nano and other multimedia players/devices.
I am also a lover of contemporary and traditional arts. I like realistic paintings very much. The paintings of old masters amazed me without end, considering the genius and the beauty in which they had been masterfully done. Blessed are the homes that are decorated with these old masters paintings! They do not only evoke past glory and grandeur, but they are treasures that ever increase in price as the years go by.
But paintings of classical masters are very rare and hard to find. They are sold only by auction and at very high prices. Only the rich and the affluent can bid to buy these priceless pieces of arts. So I just visit museums to take a look at the great artworks and painting of the famous artists.

College Days
My high school days were so fun, and so were my college days. That was the time when I gained a lot of friends and more confidence in myself. that was also the time when I met my best friends for life.
I remember one of my best friends Zita, who is now in Las Vegas who used to tell me not to forget to enjoy life even if I have to work hard or when I already have a family. We even exchanged class rings before we parted, as a sign of our endless friendship. I bet she is enjoying her life watching Las Vegas now, or maybe going out with our other friends who are also working there. I wish I could also join them, I even want to consider maybe continuing to practice my profession there too.
During our college days, we would always go to the school park or library during break time. We would study, eat and sometimes even sleep together. She sleep over in my place, or her mom invited me to go to their place. We were inseparable back then. I really miss her a lot. She is coming home this Christmas and I’m hoping to finally see her again and spend time to bond after so many years.

New Sets of Comforters, Cotton Bedsheets and Pillowcases
My daughters have new sets of comforters, cotton bedsheets and pillowcases courtesy of my friend Nelia. My youngest daughter is so happy with her Dora themed beddings. Actually, Nelia was just repaying the money she borrowed from me, but since she was short in cash, she asked if it’s okay, if she pays me in kind instead.
At first, I thought she was just kidding, but when she showed me the comforters, cotton bedsheets and pillow cases, I realized that she was serious about the offer. I have been wanting to buy new sets of comforters, bedsheets and pillowcases for my daughters, but did not have much time to go out and buy them. so, I agreed to the deal, that she will just supply me with her items, enough to cover for the amount she owed me. I also needed gift ideas for a new mom that time, and it saved me money coz I got a new set of bedsheets and pillow for my cousin Dina.
Nelia was really glad that I accepted the offer, because she said that there was no way that she could pay me in cash for the next few months. But since I am interested with her deal, she was relieved.
The comforter sets are 100% made of cotton fabrics and are imported from Hongkong by her sister. Each set consists of a comforter, a fitted sheet, a couple of pillow cases and a bolster case. She both have king and queen sizes, as well as the junior sizes. I just added extra cash for the extra pillow cases. She gave me super discounted prizes, and I’m so thankful for the offer.
I have checked the same quality of cloth and fabrics in the mall and they cost a lot. Her sister supplies for the same mall, and I can’t be thankful enough because her paying in kind became a blessing in disguise.

Is a Home Inventory Necessary?
Whether you have current California home insurance or you’re doing your research in preparation for taking out your first home policy, you may have come across a suggestion that you complete a home inventory. A home inventory is basically an inventory or list of all of your possessions including furniture, clothes, jewelry, books, artworks and even kitchen utensils. If it seems like a mammoth task, it is, but there are plenty of reasons why it should be a ‘must-do’ for everyone.
First and foremost, a home inventory will give you the value of your current possessions, and from this you can determine the correct amount you should be insuring your home contents for. Under-insure, and if disaster strikes you could be left short in the tens of thousands of dollars.
By having a comprehensive inventory, you can also help ensure that any claims are processed without undue delay. If you are broken into for instance, it’s sometimes easy to miss items that have disappeared until weeks or even months afterwards. You can cross-check on your inventory, and also provide those details to the police, and to your insurance company. By having the exact make and model of items, it will help your claim to be processed easily. The other point to note is that in the event of a loss, your insurer may request that you provide proof of ownership, and if you’re unable to do so, the amount of your claim might be reduced.
Whether you have homeowners insurance or renters insurance, a home inventory is a wise option. Keep a spreadsheet of items, add digital photos of each room and keep a backup in a separate location. You will certainly appreciate it the event of a claim.
