Eating Out and Malling with the Kids

Yesterday, my husband and I went out with kids. We were watching TV when my youngest child said, “I miss eating out!” I guess my husband overheard it and said, “alright guys, fix yourselves coz we’re going out for dinner!” The kids were overjoyed to hear it and went up to their rooms to change and get ready. We drove off to the nearby mall with chain of restaurants.

Since it was too early for dinner when we reached the mall. We decided to take a stroll and go window shopping for awhile. It has been agreed that we would not be shopping for anything, and just eat out. We have this agreement to avoid impulsive buying of things that might not be really that necessary. The whole family has developed that habit of planning our every purchase.

After about an hour or so, we went to the restaurant to eat dinner. We strolled again for a few more minutes, and then we decided to eat halo-halo in the nearby chowking branch before going home. Everyone had fun, and we were all thankful for the opportunity of being together, and having the  chance to go out as one happy family.

Family Fitness Sports and Exercise

Keeping the whole family healthy does not end in providing them with nutritious food, a good clean home, and taking vitamins. A super wise mom should encourage her whole family to get involve in family fitness sports and exercise. Physical movement and exercise is a must to keep the body and mind healthy.
Sports also help in developing the character of our kids. They learn the basic values of teamwork at home, but they will get to take it to a higher level by getting involved in sports. They also learn some important values like friendship, sportsmanship, and how to be flexible. They get motivated to work harder, develop their talents, seliminates, concentration, and most of all, they strive hard and learn to give their best to win.
Through sports, our kids learn to accept that life isn’t all about winning, and realize that losing or failure does not mean the end of the world. They learn to train and strive even harder to do better, and aspire for even higher goals while keeping their feet on the ground.
Sports is just one form of exercise, and exercise activities is a productive way to spend quality family time. You and your family gets even healthier, while keeping the bond even stronger.

Family and Kids Health

Family Health. One of the major concerns of a mom is the entire family’s health. From the youngest ones, to the old folks at home, it is always necessary that one has the knowledge on how to deal with certain situations that concerns the health of an immediate family member.

Kids health matters more than anything, because our young ones are helpless, and they only rely on the adult’s knowledge when it comes to taking care and looking after their health and medical needs.

A wise mom must be equipped not only with first aid kits, but also how to use them just in case of emergencies.  A wise mom must know which medicines can be given with or without prescription. A wise mom should know each and every kid’s or family member’s allergies and other serious medical conditions, so she can provide the immediate cure, just in case any problem occurs at any given time.

A wise mom, should always put Family Health first, before anything.

Nuggets of Wisdom

Another section of this blog will be called, “Nuggets of Wisdom” — a section filled with a collection of a great selection of quotes and sayings that everyone can live by and get inspired with.

I am a person who do not entirely base my life on what other people has to say, but I try to learn lessons from other people’s experiences in life. Simply because, as much as possible, I would like to avoid the same mistakes that they have done, and at the same time, learn from their success, and strive to do even better.

I am inspired by those people who have succeeded in their fields, may it be as a farmer, a scientist, a lawyer, a doctor, a man who never made a cent, and someone who made millions and even billions. Experiences are the best teachers in this life. What people did in the past, helped mold them into what they have become, and will be a big factor of what they will be in the future. And from the quotes and sayings, the legacy of those great individuals will live on.

Wise Mom Says, “mothers matter!”

Being a mom isn’t an easy task. It is a huge responsibility, and duty to fulfill. Whether people would agree or not,  I believe in the saying that, “In every great home,  is one great mom behind it. ” Mothers really do matter. The kind of mother every family has, determines how kids would be like when they grow up.

Although fathers do matter too, mothers make the biggest impact in a child’s life. Why? Because, even if it is the dad who usually works, in order to provide for the whole family, it is the mother who is always there to guide her kids. She  cooks for them, feeds them, takes care of them, and make sure that they are safe at all times.

Stay at home mothers like me, have chosen to set aside our personal dreams and careers, just to dedicate our time and life to our husbands and children. Working moms have it even harder, taking care of the kids and their partners, while needing to work at the same time.

Mothers comes in different shapes and sizes, and have different ways when it comes to taking care of our families. But, if there is one thing that is common among all of us, it is our utmost love for our children. We do not wear capes, but if you are to ask kids who are their heroes, the answer would be “MOM!”

…because mothers matter!

New Year’s Resolutions

Are New Year’s resolutions really necessary? Are these lists of dos and don’ts really needed in discarding our bad habits? Is there power in it to change us for the better?

Most people make their New Year’s resolutions days or months before the new year. Some make long lists, and others have only three or four.

Lists are our guides or reminders. They ought to be followed, but not compulsory. If you can follow your list, it is very fine. But if you cannot follow it, it is still fine – there are  still many new years to make resolutions.

The making of new year’s resolutions is a sign of our acceptance that we do have defects in our character, and our desire to correct them is the obvious manifestation of our concern for people around us. We want to change because of our families, loved ones and friends.

But why do we make resolutions on new year’s eve only? Can we not make a resolution on any day of the year?

Indeed, in most cases, new year’s resolutions are just new year’s resolutions. After the new year’s eve, it is forgotten and gone.

Do people purposely forget their resolutions, or is it really hard to follow them? When resolutions are  hard to follow, people tend to forget them very soon. For what is the use of wasting time in pursuing them if you think that you cannot make it? So we forget them and condone  our weakness by comparing ourselves to the many who had similarly failed to fulfill their resolutions. It is a better attitude to condone and forgive yourself of having been unable to fulfill your resolutions than to blame yourself and be bitter in life. But it is much better to be able to disciplined yourself and be the master of your destiny.

The will, determination and discipline are  the keys to fulfilled new year’s resolutions. Any one of these can do, but the best result is achieved quickly and effectively when they are used together.

To be able to control ourselves  during times of temptations, such as to forget outright our resolutions when we see them unattainable, is a function of our brain, specifically the frontal lobe. People who have no temperance in eating and drinking have defective frontal lobes. And you might be interested to know what causes it.

Our brain’s frontal lobe is the center of wisdom, conscience, will, and spirituality. It is damaged by flesh meat eating, milk and sugar mixture, caffeine, nicotine, excitotoxins, and other toxic substances that we get from all processed foods or junk foods. Watching television for long hours, and rock music can also destroy our frontal lobes.

So, it is like a vicious cycle. If we cannot control our appetites, we damage our frontal lobes, and we become less spiritual. When our spirituality is weak, we are unable to choose what is  good and what is evil, and it will be hard for us to know if our characters are within the bounds of good morals. Remember, in making our lists of new year’s resolutions, we need to know what are our bad traits that we should discard. Granted that we are able to make the list honestly, we need our will to accomplish them. But an impaired frontal lobe results in impaired will as well. And without the will, we cannot accomplish anything.
