The Orion constellation is well known to most stargazers. It is composed of bright stars such as Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, Rigel, Saiph, Alnitak, Alnilam, Mintaka, Meissa, Theta1 and Theta 2 Orionis, the Trapezium cluster, Orion nebula, and Hatsya.

I know all about these from reading encyclopedia, through science and astronomy lectures, watching videos, and participating in star gazing events. That’s why I’m also sharing my knowledge to my kids through getting discount dvd and other films, which seems to catch their interests, more than books. although i still encourage them to read books, as often as they can.

Rigel, the left foot of Orion, is the brightest star in this constellation. It is 773 light years away, and has a mass of 17 solar masses. Betelgeuse, the right shoulder of Orion, is the second brightest in the constellation, and is 600 light years away from our solar system. Bellatrix is the left shoulder of Orion, and is 240 light years away. Saiph, the right foot of Orion is720 light years away.

Its three bright stars, commonly known as the “Belt of Orion”, are visible to the naked eyes. These are the Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka. These stars are also known as “the Three Kings”, or “The Three Sisters”. Alnitak is the easternmost star in the belt. It is 800 light years away. Alnilam is the center of the belt. It is 1300 light years away. Mintaka is the westernmost star in the belt, and is 900 light years away.

Below the belt is the “Sword of Orion”. Visible to the naked eyes are the stars Theta 1 and Theta 2 Orionis, the Trapezium cluster, the Orion nebula, and Hatsya. The brightest star in the sword visible to the nake eye, though 1300 light years away is Hatsya, which is located at the tip of the sword.

The Trapezium cluster is a group of very bright stars 1600 light years away. It was originally composed of stars A, B, C, and D. But later discoveries increased the number to eight. Stars A, C, and D were discovered by Galileo in February 4, 1617, and the fourth component, the star B was discovered later. The rest were discovered in 1888. Star C is the brightest in the Trapezium.

The Orion Nebula is the hazy area visible to the naked eye. It is 1270 light years away, 20 light years in diameter, and 24 light years across. It is composed of more than 2,ooo stars.

At the tip of the sword, below the Orion Nebula is Hatsya. It is the brightest among the sword stars though 1300 light years away.

Just below Alnitak is the Horsehead Nebula, and the Flame Nebula adjacent to it. The Horsehead Nebula and the Burning Bush or Flaming Tree Nebula are both 1500 light years away.

Constellation Orion is very significant to most people not only because of its being the most beautiful constellation in the night sky that is visible to the naked eye, but because of the many myths and legends about it. It is believed not only by Christians, but by atheist as well that Orion is the “Gateway to Heaven”. It is mentioned three times in the Bible, and most Seventh-day Adventists believe that the mighty voice of God the Father will come from Orion to proclaim the day and hour of the much-awaited second coming of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. From an “open space” in Orion, the holy city New Jerusalem will pass through and descend to this planet Earth, after the millennial reign of the saints in heaven.

Lecithin is derived from soybeans. It cosists primarily of choline, plus linoleic acid and inositol. Lecithin is a type of lipid needed by every cells in the body. It is important in the brain and the whole nnervous system, where it coats the nerve fibers.

Commercial lecithin contains 10 to 20 percent phosphatidylcholine. The newer preparations contain up to 98 percent, and are the best ones to use when large doses are required to treat some diseases.

Lecithin is very good for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and arteriosclerosis. It improves the brain functions, and is one of the substances that enhance intelligence.

Lecithin helps in the absorption of thiamine by the liver and vitamin A by the intestines. It is good for the repair of damaged liver caused alcoholism. Lecithin’s most important function is its ability to enable fats to dissolve and disperse in water, so that they can be removed from the body.

Lecithin, like gingko biloba and gotu kola, is a super brain food. It dissolves cholesterosl that clog the arteries, veins and capillaries, thus promoting good blood circulation to the brain to supply it with needful glucose and oxygen. Taken together with vitamin E, lecithin is good for the heart. Lecithin, like vitamin E and ginseng has a rejuvenating and anti-aging properties.

When I was a child I dreamt a lot of dreams. To finish school and become a health professional. Have a good home and healthy family. To live a good life and I even dreamt of becoming rich. I always looked up to the successful people and businesses around me, and dreamt to becoming just like them ne day. I even had dreams of one day having a lot of treasure, like how Golden Eagle buy gold from people, then i’ll ke them to make them a family treasure. But my ultimate goal was, whatever happens, whether all my dreams will come true or not, I just want to be happy.
I have reached some of my dreams, and others came true by fate. Though most of my childhood dreams have remained dreams up to this day, I still thank God for giving me the desire to reach for these dreams, and for giving me the determination to continue on dreaming. Dreams are our wings to lofty ideals. In dreams we hope for something better and expect it to become real. It is this hopeful expectation that makes our lives happier and more livable.

Vitamin B12: Health Benefits, Source, And Dosage

The body needs vitamins to function properly. Deficiency of certain vitamins can result to disease and even death. Vitamins are sometimes called as “co-enzymes” because they work together with enzymes or chemical catalyst in the body.

One of these vitamins needed by the body is the vitamin B complex. These are vitamins that are very important for the proper functioning of the body, specially for the brain and the nervous system.

One of these B complex is vitamin B12 or cobalamin. This vitamin is present in animal products, and rarely in vegetables, if ever, and only in very minimal amount. It is needed in the production of red blood cells. It prevents anemia, and promotes growth in children. Vitamin B12 is used in the treatment of impaired mental ability in the elderly. It is also used in the treatment of depression, diabetic neuropathy, low sperm count, tinnitus, multiple sclerosis, and asthma.

Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms are chronic fatigue, difficulty in concentrating, sore mouth, numbness or stiffness, pernicious anemia, depression, pins-and-needles sensation, and a mimic Alzheimer’s effect in the elderly. Lack of vitamin B12 affects the brain and the nervous system first, and is also the major cause of depression in older people. Vitamin B12 deficiency causes an undersupply of melatonin, resulting in inadequate sleep at night.

Vitamin B12 and folic acid work closely together; they should be taken together to be more effective. In order for the body to be able to absorb vitamin B12, the stomach secretes an “intrinsic factor”, a special digestive secretion that increases the absorption of vitamin B12 in the small intestine. When there is enough cobalt in the body, the bowel can make its own vitamin B12.

There are two forms of vitamin B12 – methylcobalamin (the active form), and cyanocobalamin. The active form is preferred than the other.

Rich source of vitamin B12 are fortified brewer’s yeast, milk, and egg. It can be found also in some vegetables but rarely, and in very small amount.

Dosage: RDA 3mcg; ODA 200 mcg; TDA 1,000 mcg. Recommended dosage is 2 mcg daily. For pernicious anemia, dosage is 300-1,000 mcg. Therapeutic doses is difficult to assimilate, so doctors give it by injection. The above dosages are for adults. Dosage for children 12-17 years old should be reduced to 3/4 of the recommended dose, and for children 6-11 years old, dosage is 1/2 of the recommended.

Caution: Be cautious in taking B12 if you have folate deficiency, iron deficiency, any kind of infections, Leber’s disease, polycythemia or uremia.

During my school days, I had favorite teacher that stimulated, inspired, encouraged and guided me to become what I am now. To me, she was the best teacher I ever had in all of my school days. Truly, teachers were the paragons of good education in its truest essence. Surely, I shall always cherish their memories throughout my life.

In primary school, I had a teacher who was like a mother to me. Actually, she was a close relative of my father. She was my teacher in Grade 1, and she was so kind and loving to us. She would share her lunch with me, and she bought crayons, pencils and notebooks for me. She lauded my woks at school, buys me something whenever she gets reward cards and encouraged me to develop my inborn talent in arts. I learned from her to have self-esteem and self confidence.

During my Grade 2 year, she gave me a part for the closing ceremony – a long poem of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, “My Last Farewell” translated in our dialect. It was so long that I could barely memorize it. Thanks God, I was able to deliver it successfully. That was the best mental exercise that greatly developed my good memory throughout my school days from primary school up to college.

I had other favorite teachers in the elementary school too, but for me she was the best, and always will be in my memory. She was a very good story teller too. She would tell me tales of legends and myths. She taught music too, and she had a very good voice. She was a strict disciplinarian, but loving and caring.

Australia is a country of beautiful spots for tourists and travellers. Visiting Australia is an enjoyable thing, and coming from there won’t be complete without buying some beautiful souvenirs to remind you of your visit in Australia. Although my daughter fancies having new equestrian boots, since she plans to start riding lessons this summer, I told her to choose something related to Australia, so it will remind her of the visit.

Australia is famous for hopping kangaroos. It is fun seeing them for the first time. But sometimes they attack and can be dangerous to human beings. Koala bears are also famous in Australia. These round-faced animals are harmless, and love to munch grasses and leaves of trees. But of course, the most fascinating ones for kids and adults alike are the boomerangs. Playing with these toys are very exciting and exhilarating. It brings more joy and happiness especially when you can throw it correctly and skillfully to have it return to you and be able to catch it again.

Be sure to buy souvenirs from Australia when travelling there. Your kids will surely love to play the boomerangs. Your lass will also be happy to hug the soft stuffed koala bears. You can give them clip of kangaroos too.

When coming from Australia, do not forget to bring home souvenirs such as aboriginal symbols and other aboriginal arts for display in your living room. Buy keychains for your loved ones and friends to remind them of Australia. The will always remember Australia, and of course, the giver too.

A light French dressing (oil, vinegar, lemon juice, and seasonings) is appropriate for almost any salad. Mayonnaise, whipped cream, or cooked dressing should be used according to your own taste. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Out of the basic salad dressing ingredients, you may be able to create something special.

Salad Dressings Basic Ingredients that you may use:

Oils. Fruity Italian oil, olive oil, or french type such as vegetable oils made from corn, cotton seeds, peanuts, soybeans, and canola.

Vinegar. Strength of vinegar varies. That’s why it is important to add vinegar to the other ingredients a little at a time until your desired taste is reached. Old-fashioned vinegar has a wild taste. For a distinctive taste in your dressing, you may either use vinegar from tarragon, wine, pear, garlic, onion, or specially seasoned vinegar.

Seasonings. Use regular table salt. Black pepper is at its best when freshly ground. Fresh garlic should be minced, otherwise, you may opt for garlic salt or powdered dry garlic. Use dried or fresh herbs sparingly. With herbs, a little goes a long way.

Other Salad Staples. Keep these condiments at hand: garlic, celery salt, onion salt, minced salt, and onion juice. Horseradish pickle relish and seeds like caraway, sesame, celery and mustard add a distinctive flavor to both salads and salad dressings. Don’t overlook fresh and dried herbs such as sage, mint, chive, basil, oregano, and dill. Use sharp table steak sauce and red pepper sauce for zesty tang. Crunchy nuts and raisins give pleasing texture and taste.

Gardening is one of the most productive hobby that me and my family share. We plant different kinds of vegetables, so we don’t have to buy them in the market anymore. Besides, home grown organic vegetables are healthier than those that are commercially produced and sold at the markets.

Are you interested to put up your very own vegetable garden at home? If you are a first timer in gardening, there are a few things that you need to know to start a vegetable garden, but it’s not really a difficult thing, however, it requires a lot passion and patience, because once you start gardening, you will have to work on it, take care of your plants, for as long as they exist and or as long as you want them to continue growing and producing.

First, think about what kind of vegetables you’d like to grow, then buy seeds from a reliable source. Second, you need to find a perfect spot for your vegetable plots. You need to have a space that has adequate sunlight, and fertile soil that is able to absorb the water well. You also have to remove the weeds and all other plants in that spot.

You don’t just plant your seeds right away. First you need to condition the soil for planting. You have to make it fertile and well irrigated. If you plan to do organic vegetable gardening, use fertilizers made out of natural materials such as decayed vegetables, and other animal compost products. It will take a few weeks before your plots are ready, and once they are you can start planting your seeds, and then make sure to water your plots once a day. Do not pour too much water, just enough to keep the soil moist.

You may notice weeds growing even before your seedlings do, make sure to remove them immediately because they absorb the soil nutrients that are meant for your seeds. After a few weeks you will notice tiny sprouts starting to grow. At this stage, you should not pour too much water in them because they are sensitive and may die of too much water.

Growing vegetables gives me a sense of fulfillment that I can’t describe, and when harvest time comes and feed your family with your own healthy product of your own labor, the happiness it brings is lasting — and you get to save money too, because you don’t need to buy those vegetables from the market.

Real forgiveness is something that can be learned by your kids through you. As parents, it is our duty to ensure that our kids learn the most essential things in life, and one of them is how to forgive.

The lesson about forgiveness can be taught or un-taught, sometimes even without you knowing, in your way of dealing with your child’s improper behavior. Before you can effectively lead the child into forgiving others who have wronged them, you need to genuinely forgive the him for what the mistakes he has committed. In the absence of your genuine forgiveness, you lead the child with an attitude of bitterness, which incites the kids’ distrust, defensiveness and even defiance.

Forgiveness of the kid is set on understanding the factors that contribute to a kid’s wrongful conduct, including the kid’s tiredness, hunger, exposure to excessively harsh discipline, experiencing of too little close connection with others and too much cold direction and correction, as well as exposure to someone modeling the bad behavior, etc.

Understanding the contributing factors and forgiving your kid does not mean that you do not deal with the conduct problem. Normally, the advisable way to handle an improper behavior is by ridding of the surrounding influences that contribute to it and giving the child a distinct sign about the conduct you will and will not tolerate. But it is critical that the way you deliver that clear signal in no way causes the kid to feel so hurt by you that she feels to a greater extent aggressed than truly supported.

Respecting your kid’s feelings is a fundamental practice for instructing your kid to recognize and honor innocence and everyone’s worthiness of love. As you show consciousness of and respect for your child’s feelings, you nurture, strengthen and support his ability to recognize respect the sacred heart of innocence in himself and others.
