When it comes to your toasters and oven toasters, always remove the crumbs after each use. Do this after the toaster has cooled down. For stuck-on remnants, use dusting brush to loosen the crumbs and then shake them out. Wash rack with soap and water.

Occasionally wipe the tray with damp cloth. Keep an eye on the on the toaster’s cord and plug especially when the toaster is more than a few years old. Run it through an empty toast cycle three times. If the plug and cord are hot, it’s a sign that it is about time that you replace them.

Last but not the least, use oven toaster only to warm food, bake small items as potatoes, or cook frozen dinners. Don’t use it as a conventional oven.

Today, I will share some ‘Wise Mom Tips in Housekeeping & Carpet Cleaning’. We are all familiar with the saying, “Cleanliness is next to godliness” and that a clean home helps in creating a happy mood that lifts up our spirits. Aside from happiness, it also brings comfort and peace of mind.

A clean home is very conducive to physical, mental, social and spiritual health. A clean home is a healthy home. Unkempt home is a possible breeding place of rodents and other pests that can bring health problems to the family. A disorderly home with cluttered things in sixes and sevens is prone to more accidents. It is not only a loathsome eye sore, but very stressful too.

For health and safety, we need to clean our home everyday. As we clean our body everyday, so we need to clean our home too. We should clean our surroundings to minimize and prevent rodent and pests infestation at home.

Most important, we need to clean our home interiors by carpet cleaning to eliminate allergens, germs, and other disease-causing bacteria. Dusts, dirt, allergens, and grimes accumulate on rugs and carpets. Dust mites, ticks, fleas, lice, and bugs hide in carpets, and these can easily bring health problems to our family.

Carpet cleaning is more than just vacuum cleaning. It is not just removing the dusts and dirt – it involves removal of gum and tough stains too. It needs some cleaning chemicals to totally remove these stains. But shampooing and removing tough stains are not as problematic as drying up the carpets indoors. It takes hours or even days to completely dry up the carpets after cleaning.

We tried one time cleaning our carpets by brushing with water and soap. The dusts and dirt were removed, but the gums stuck and the stains remained. Wet carpets are heavy and hard to hang on clothes line for drying up. And we were not sure whether the dust mites, ticks, bugs and fleas were removed. Unless we use some chemicals or hot water for cleaning, we cannot be sure that these pests can be eliminated.

Indeed, carpet cleaning is a tough job. If you feel that you may not be doing it right, you can also ask help from the expert services of professional and experienced carpet cleaners. Besides expending a lot of energy in cleaning carpets, and the danger of damaging the hem when not properly cleaned, it is much better to leave the job to carpet cleaning experts. But if you feel you are able to do it with the help of your other family members, then that would save you a lot of money.

There are a lot of DIY alternatives that you can chose from, and you don’t even need to have a sewing machine, or have the skill to sew. With just a bit of creative imagination, resourcefulness and some pins or connectors, plus a nice fabric, you can easily and quickly create a beautiful curtain or drapery for your windows.

Just try to look for a nice fabric which design and color matches that of your home décors, wall paints, and most of all, meets your personal style and taste. Something that is soothing to the eyes, and makes the room look more refreshing. You can use a clip, grommet, cord or hook to hang it with, and you will have your beautiful, elegant, fresh, simple and inexpensive curtain that will not only give an awesome accent to your windows, but your home as a whole.

Anything is possible, you can create or give your home a different look and feel every now and then, or as often as you want to. Just release your creative spirit and activate the power of your imagination.

Much better if you also let your other family members give their suggestions and help with your home makeover. It will be a fun and exciting, plus it’s a great chance to have a quality bonding time with your family.

Usually, before I plan cleaning glass, I prepare a pail of filled with 2 -3 liters of water, and drop 3 tsp of vinegar. The ratio is 1 tsp per liter of water. Mix it well.

Get a microfiber cloth and wipe the glasses, mirrors, glass windows, glass doors, glass tables, etc. with the cloth damped with water-vinegar mixture. You will notice that it cleans really well, and makes all glasses clean and clear, free from dusts and dirt.

Or to make things easier, you can fill your spray bottle with the mixture, thn spray into the surface, and wipe with clean cloth.

Another glass cleaning material that I use to wipe glass doors, windows and tables is used newspaper. You just damp it with pure water, then crumple it and wipe to the glass surface.

You don’t need to buy those cleaning powders and liquids or spend too much on cleaning glass. You can just use what you have at home. Big savings and easy on the budget for wise moms like us!

Most modern home kitchens have microwave ovens. Aside from the fact that it is lighter and does not take up too much space, it is easier to use in cooking different type of dishes. But microwave ovens require maintenance, caring and cleaning too. Today, I will share some tips in proper usage of the microwave oven and how you can keep your microwave ovens good as new.

To avoid unpleasant odors to develop inside the oven, leave the door open for a few minutes after each use. This should also be done in case you are cooking diferent type of dishes, to avoid the smell of one food to stick with the other, thus ruining your perfect recipe. After using, leave the door open for awhile not only for the smell to exhaust, but also to make the heat subside faster.

Once the oven is not in use, be sure to have it unplugged to avoid any accidents. Clean the oven by spraying the inside with an all purpose cleaner and wipe with a cloth. You may also use baking soda mixed with water, in cleaning.

Avoid trying to microwave something too big for the oven. Doing so would not only make the lifespan of your device shorter and cause damage on the hinges, but as well as endanger your health. Opened microwave oven while cooking mayu expose you to leaking microwave radiation.

Regularly check the gaskets or the rubber ring that cushions the microwave oven door to be sure that it seals properly. Lastly, be sure to keep them in place where your young ones could not reach or play with them.

Today, I will share some wise mom tips on how to keep your silverware clean and tarnish-free. Some might say, oh that’s such an easy task. But who knows? You might be doing it all wrong! It is important to keep our silverware clean, looking new and tarnish-free at all times. Even the smallest details would reflect on what kind of a home-maker and person you are.

Cleaning and caring for your silverware

Wash them promptly after every meal to keep them tarnish-free, and to avoid discoloration. Wash silverware in hot, sudsy water, and rinse them in hot, clean water. Do not soak silverware in water for long periods. Doing so loosens the knife handles and dulls the finish.

Wash silverware immediately after contact with certain foods like mayonnaise, mustard, eggs, and any form of rubber, because they tarnish the silver.

Using a clean cloth, dry each piece immediately, right after washing. It is important to wipe each piece of silverware dry. Never leave them to try themselves.

Then store properly in a place where it wont get scratched and would not get exposed to air. Constant exposure of silverware to air will cause them to tarnish.

Cleaning Your Silverware In case of tarnish building up

Apply a silver cleaner on a soft clean cloth. Wipe the silverware using gentle. lengthwise strokes until tarnish is removed. Follow the contour of each piece, and never use circular or rubbing motion.

Wash silverware in hot, sudsy water, and rinse them thoroughly in hot, clean water. Then wipe them dry immediately, after washing. Store properly.

Today, I will share an effective tip in “Moving Heavy Things Inside the House without Scratching the Floor. This would be helpful most especially for those moms and housewives who don’t have their husbands at home all the time. This should be done with a lot of precaution though.

First, before moving a cabinet, remove all the books, jars, or other things that makes the load heavier. Place them in a safe corner. Clean the furniture first, so the dirt or dust won’t be carried to the spot you plan to move your furniture to. Then if you can lift the furniture on your own, lift the other side first then place a wide cotton-material made rags underneath.

If you can’t do this on your own, as for assistance. Do the same on the other side and corners of the furniture. Then just push the furniture towards the direction where you plan to move it. This does not only make moving lighter and easier, but it also helps to avoid scratching your wooden or tiled floor.

Same thing goes for your boxes, chairs, and other things you can’t lift. Try this technique, and see how it works.
