The best food that can provide your baby is your own milk. It helps in strengthening their immune system and keep them away from diseases. No commercially processed baby food or milk can match the nutrition your breast milk can provide. More moms are opting to breastfeed their babies. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics advocates at least twelve months of breast feeding, but there are moms who often find this job hard, most especially when things starts to become a discomfort. A mom should be prepared to do breastfeeding, this means that even during pregnancy one can consult a lactation expert so you will have an idea on what to do.And if ever you are already breastfeeding your baby and is experiencing problems, better consult the doctor immediately to receive an advice.

If there’s one thing to keep in mind that is to nurse early and as often as your baby needs to be breastfed. Frequent breastfeeding in the early months serves a lot in making sure that your baby gets the necessary nutrition. Also learn proper positioning when breastfeeding to avoid discomfort for yourself and your baby. Get cozy by using pillows that you can place behind your back while leaning against a chair or wall, and also use pillows where you can place on your thighs to support your baby, it will also help lift up your baby so you do not need to lean over and hunch your shoulders. The best and most advised position is to keep baby facing you, with his tummy against your tummy.

Try to avoid introducing a pacifier during his early months or bottlefeed your baby early. Some babies are able to switch back and forth from breastfeeding to bottle-feeding easily, but there are some who find it hard to adjust therefore refuse either of the two when switching. It is also important for a mother to learn and be comfortable to bottle-feed in public because babies often get hungry and you will have to feed them wherever you may be and whatever you are doing, even if you are outside shopping for groceries, or traveling. Having a baby sling carrier and wearing a nursing bra will help a lot ion making breastfeeding in public easier.

It’s easy to become a mother and father, all you need is just a healthy reproductive system that is capable of producing a baby. But it’s not easy to become responsible parents. It needs time, and a lot of preparation, not just for the mom to be, but for both. It should be a ‘Husband and Wife Team Preparation To Become Parents’

First time parents-to-be need to know how to take care of their newborn babies, some information about normal behavior in every stage of development of a child, the right nutrition, health care, immunization, discipline, preventing any problems, what to do during crucial times, and other necessary things.

Child-rearing style of parents matters a lot in the development of self-image, personality, and lifestyle practices of the child that all begins after birth of the baby. Parents should always remember that child’s early interaction with parents is a crucial part of child’s development. Kids, especially newborn babies, need time (quality and quantity) to bond with their parents.

To working parents who put most of their responsibilities to their children to a nanny or childminder, should remember that all the people whom your child interact everyday could influence your child’s behavior, because learning takes place to every child’s mind every day. It is best that you bond with your baby while you are at home (unless you want to endorse your PARENTING responsibility to child’s nanny).

All parents love to give their very best for their babies, I feel so blessed that though my mom is a working mom, she breastfeed me instead of bottle feeding in my first few months in life.

Breast milk is much more superior in nutritional value than the expensive formula milk in the market. Breast milk also appears to promote the growth of nerves and the intestinal tract, aside from the fact that it could excite better immune system function.

Breast milk contains immunoglobulins that could trigger antibody formation that could protect the baby from illnesses. I understand my mom’s situation that she mixed fed me with formula milk on my third month until I am more than 1 year old since she need to go back to work. My mom said that it would be best that the baby be cuddled when baby is fed even with formula milk.

Why World Health Organization promotes breastfeeding? Breastfed infants are less likely to suffer from health problems like gastroenteritis, diarrhea, colic, bronchitis, and ear infection. And, breastfed babies are less likely to die in infancy compared to those who are bottle fed. But, as we all know, not all mothers are capable to breastfeed their babies.

Mothers who suffer from a medical condition that obliges her to take medications that could harm the baby; those that suffer from viral illness like HIV that could possibly be transmitted through breast milk; and those who are healthy but have insufficient supply of milk are some of the mothers who have great reason not to breastfeed their infants.

To mothers-to-be, the best gift and nutrition you can give to your future kids is your breast milk. If you are capable to give it to your child, never hesitate to do so. Breastfeeding is a great bonding experience for you and your child too.

It is not an excuse that we are not well nourished or our choice of food is not the right one because we are not nutritionist. Each one of us is responsible for what we take in thus we need to seek an advice from those who know about good nutrition or read some books to have an idea about good nutrition. You can get nutrition information from books if you want to know the nutrition facts of the food you eat.

The simple reminder about right nutrition we will be talking today is for general population. I just stress the importance of healthy balanced diet for pregnant women since unborn children are dependent of the nutrition they get from their mothers. As we all know, some pregnant women develops strong aversion to certain foods and crave for one or more particular food items especially during first trimester of pregnancy.

Some people wrongly believe that unborn child could get all the needed nutrition from their mother though pregnant woman’s diet is not healthy or she eat poorly. The truth is if pregnant women’s diet lacks essential nutrients, their baby will suffer the effects along with them.

Everybody needs a balanced diet of nutritious food thus we need to make right and healthful choices of food every day. If you are pregnant now and in the past pregnancies your diet is not adequate, you cannot go back to correct it. Now that you know what is right, start planning your meals so that you and your baby will be well-nourished. If you eat variety of carefully chosen foods, your diet is likely to provide the nutrients you need.

Whole wheat bread and brown or wild rice is good choice compared to white bread and refined white rice for carbohydrates. Pregnant women should at least take 9 servings of this food group every day. At least 4 servings of variety of vegetables everyday is needed too. Different types of vegetables provide different nutrients thus there should be variation. Canned and dehydrated vegetables are not good alternative because of preservatives and some essential nutrients are lost in processing.

At least 3 servings of various fruits everyday are necessary. Canned fruits are not a healthy choice because of heavy syrup. Fruit punches and sweetened drinks are not fruits; they are just fruit-flavored sugar water. Talking about milk low fat and skim milk are better choice over whole milk. Nonfat yogurt is a healthy choice too.

You need two to three servings of protein group food (fish, lean meat, poultry, eggs, dried beans, and nuts) everyday. Raw meat and fish is not advisable so as processed foods until your baby is born. It is healthy to trim visible fat before cooking. Yes, we need fats if we talk about good nutrition but we only need little amount of fat, it should be from a healthy source as much as possible to avoid accumulation of bad cholesterol in our body, especially to pregnant women.

Caffeine, alcohol, salty foods, artificial sweeteners, and smoking should be avoided especially during pregnancy. All of us need 8-10 glasses of water every day is important to meet our daily fluid intake requirement, especially the pregnant mothers. Doctor’s advice is necessary in taking any types of supplementation and medications.

If we are concern about the importance of good nutrition for us to live a healthy and happy life, we should be more aware and pay special attention to what pregnant mothers take in for their own health and for the health of the unborn child.

I often see women warning other nursing moms that they need to avoid certain foods while breastfeeding. There are also sites that throw unproven breastfeeding advice that claims about the new for nursing women to eat a certain kind of diet in order to make quality milk for her baby. Nursing moms are frequently advised to avoid spicy or “gassy” foods when breast feeding. Or they are told that chocolate, citrus, carbonated drinks or dairy products induces problems when breastfeeding children. So what is the truth about this? Do breast feeding moms really need to restrict their diet and avoid consuming or drinking certain foods and beverages? Are there really foods that a mom should avoid while breastfeeding? If so, what are they and why?

The truth is, breastfeeding moms should eat a variety of healthy foods, just like what they eat during pregnancy to ensure that she is well-nourished, and her milk can provide the necessary nutrients that the baby needs to stay healthy. The only exception would be if your baby has certain allergies or sensitivies when it comes to food, which is usually a rare thing, however there are certain cases about this. It is also best to ask for the advice of your pediatrician if your family happened to have a strong history of allergy to a certain food like in some cases, there are people who are known to be allergic to peanuts. To be safe, just consider to avoid eating that food during maternity or while breast feeding. Nursing moms should also bear in mind that boozing intemperately or drinking beverages with too much caffeine is a big no-no, but aside from that, there’s no rationality for a breastfeeding mom to assume that she has to be scared to eat foods that she likes for as long as she knows it is healthy and rich in nutrients. The supposed “gassy” foods that old people believe in don’t affect the infant because in truth, the undigested carbohydrates in the food that moms eat that causes gassy stomach do not really pass into breast-milk as believed.

In different regions and countries, the “old wive’s tales” told by old folks and their advice given to a nursing moms varies according to their old beliefs. It is better to discuss matters about breastfeeding with the right people such as lactating experts and pediatricians. Cultures differ in their belief about breastfeeding and avoiding foods, like in Italy, moms are frequently told not to eat garlic, cauliflower, lentils, and cayenne pepper because it causes some difficulties when breastfeeding. But to the contrary, most moms in India actually eat all these things and do not experience any problems when it comes to breastfeeding at all. It is even believed that garlic has the content that can help moms in breastfeeding successfully!” There are even studies provi9ng that children breastfed longer and with more energy when their moms consumed foods that have garlic.

Maternity is what completes a woman – and the baby completes a home. Thus, at the 1st sign of maternity, wives and their hubbies experience feeling overjoyed. They get overexcited and begin discussing the gender of the child, and come up with list of names to select, the possible friends who would be godparents to their precious one, and even talk about their baby’s first birthday! Yes, parents-to-be get too excited with their coming little baby and feel too happy and overwhelmed. They also become worried about their coming baby and how they can take care of the child properly.

Women must keep in mind that taking care of the baby does not start at giving birth, but at the moment that the baby is conceived inside a mother’s womb. If you are parents and moms to be, the moment you become pregnant is also the starting point of taking care of your baby. If you want to have a healthy child, whom you want to intelligent and strong, you must see to it that the food that you eat during your pregnancy will provide nourishment to your baby inside the womb. There are certain foods that will help keep a woman healthy during pregnancy while at the same time, help in nourishing the fetus inside.

Dark, green, and leafy veggies are also essential for pregnant or breastfeeding women. These veggies, like cabbage and spinach, supply vitamins and minerals to the body. They’re also have phytochemicals that function to protect the body from cancer. Beans are also goof for pregnant women since they are rich in fiber, calcium, niacin, protein, and thiamine.

Pregnant women must likewise consider consuming foods that will aid the nervous system and the brain development of fetus inside their womb. Nuts and seeds provide minerals, protein, fiber, and certain healthy fatty acids. While drinking milk, which is rich in calcium, is also necessary for pregnant women, because it helps in the development of the teeth and bones of the baby. Pumpkins may not be your favorite, but they are rich in beta carotene which can reduce the risk of heart diseases and cancer, that is why it is considered as one of the super foods suitable for pregnant women. Another superfood that may be something that many don’t believe in, but, in truth, sardines is healthy and risk-free for the pregnant women since it is abundant in Omega 3. Omega 3 aids in the development of the brain and eyes of the fetus. Choose the type of sardines prepared in a healthy manner such as those dipped in olive oil.

Babies need iron to aid in their blood supply, that’s why pregnant women should eat food that are rich in iron. Pregnant women must consider eating whole grain cereals and bread because they contain fiber that is not only good for digestion and source of energy, but also help normalize blood sugar; therefore, aiding in the prevention of gestational diabetes. What a pregnant woman eats, is what the baby inside her womb relies on for his or her nourishment. Therefore, every pregnant woman should eat healthy if they want to have a healthy baby.

There are no big secrets really, if you are healthy and capable of having a baby, you do not have to worry. Every woman who desires to become pregnant just need to know her body and most of all be very aware of her natural body rhythm, menstrual cycle and fertility period.

The key to become pregnant naturally is to discern when, within a month is the period wherein you are most fertile, if you have no idea about it, you can ask your gynecologist. But really, it is quite simple to determine. In a woman’s rhythm, a lot of people do not realize that a woman is actually only capable to become preganant just about 3 days per calendar month. Any woman who wish to data track her cycle, simply needs a calendar. Simply take note when her menstrual cycle begins and ends. Ten days from the first day of her monthly period, is the perfect time that she is most likely to get pregnant.

The calendar method and keeping track of the ovulation period is the most natural and inexpensive way of conceiving a baby naturally. It works for most women, but it does not seem to be true to some, most especially those who have irregular cycles and are suffering from hormonal imbalance. That is why prior to deciding to become pregant, one should visit her gynecologist to ask for advice on what to do and if there is any medication required to aid pregnancy.
